Fumiaki Miura & Varvara Violin & Piano Concert

Fumiaki Miura, who won the world’s most difficult international violin competition in Hannover, Germany, in 2009 at the age of 16, turned 30 years old this year. Miura, who has performed with various types of pianists, teamed up with Varvara, a pianist whom Miura respects, and they performed together for the first time in Japan.

Concerts were held on March 4 and March 5. Miura and Varvara performed Bach’s Violin Sonata No. 3, Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 3, Shostakovich’s Sonata, and Beethoven’s Sonata No. 9 “Kreutzer.” 

On the occasion of this concert, Fumiaki Miura said of Varvara, “A pianist with excellent ability, but at the same time, there is a strictness in a good sense.” As promised, the concert venue offered an exhilarating and thrilling atmosphere.

Japanese masters Tsugio Tokunaga, wife of the Dutch Ambassador Joan Mitchell van der Fliet, Setsuko Yamamoto van Gulik, Etsuko Hattori, Austrian Ambassador Elisabeth Bertagnoli, and actress Masumi Ohara attended the concert.
