Jamaica and Japan celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations

The Jamaican Ambassador H.E. Ms. Shorna-Kay M. Richards hosted a reception on the occasion of the Joint Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Jamaica & Japan and the official working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica.

Wearing a traditional kimono in Jamaican national colors, the Ambassador to Japan gave a short but meaningful speech in honor of Jamaican-Japanese diplomatic relations and to welcome her important state guest from Jamaica, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Kamina Johnson Smith.

The very popular Ambassador was busy welcoming many important guests from trade, industry and culture of various Japanese organizations.

Also attending, many Ambassadors from the diplomatic corps in Tokyo, including the Ambassadors of Sweden, Bulgaria, Egypt, Morocco and many Latin-American Ambassadors congratulating Ambassador Richards and welcoming the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica.

The festivities were supported by a high-school brass band from Jamaican sister city of the Tottori Prefecture which has maintained relations with Jamaica for many decades. Besides popular Jamaican tunes, authentic Jamaican food was served such as jerk chicken and delicious sweet-tasting Jamaican bread.

With Jamaican food and reggae it is save to say that the guests had a wonderful time as both nations celebrated their strong diplomatic friendship. Congratulations to the Embassy of Jamaica and its charismatic Ambassador Ms. Shorna-Kay M. Richards.
