Chocolate made from Ecuador’s finest rare cacao, Alibaba cacao, is now on sale in Japan!
The store name MAMANO, which sounds like a familiar Japanese word, comes from the Spanish words “mama”, which means mother, and “mano”, which means hand. Essentially, giving the word MAMANO the meaning of “mother’s hand”. Around 70% of the farmers who grow Arriba cacao are women. This fact is the inspiration behind the name MAMANO.
Arriba cacao is an endemic species of Ecuador, and only about 2% of the world’s cacao production comes from Arriba cacao. Farmers harvest this extremely rare cacao from the Theobroma cacao tree. Theobroma is an ancient Greek word meaning “Food of the Gods”.
The 5300-year-old ruins of Ecuador show traces of people drinking chocolate. Even in modern times, Theobroma cacao is loved and highly revered. We would like you to taste this high-quality chocolate made from the ultra-rare Arriba cacao.
