Portugal vs. Colombia: Live Viewing of the Fierce Match at PUMA Japan Headquarters
The match between Portugal and Colombia—the final qualifier in Group K of the FIFA World Cup 2026—took place at Miami Stadium, kicking off at 8:30 AM on June 28 (Japan Standard Time).
In Japan, a live viewing event hosted by the Embassy of Portugal and PUMA Japan was held at PUMA Japan’s headquarters in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo.

On the day of the event, a large crowd gathered for the live viewing, including representatives from PUMA Japan and the Embassy of Portugal, as well as soccer fans selected through a public call for participants. Thanks to the generosity of the Portuguese Ambassador and PUMA Japan, the venue offered food, drinks, Portuguese sweets, and Portuguese wine, adding to the excitement of the viewing experience. A prize draw featuring PUMA and Embassy of Portugal merchandise was also held during the match, providing additional entertainment for the attendees.
The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has signed a long-term agreement with PUMA; starting in 2025, PUMA has been supplying uniforms for the men’s, women’s, and youth teams, as well as for futsal, beach soccer, and e-sports squads. PUMA has a long-standing connection with Portugal, having previously partnered with the legendary footballer Eusébio—who was the top scorer at the 1966 World Cup and led Portugal to a third-place finish—and having produced the “PUMA KING,” one of the brand’s iconic soccer boots.

The Portuguese national team played the match wearing new PUMA uniforms unveiled for the North and Central America World Cup. Based on the team’s signature red, the new uniforms feature wave-like patterns and accents of green—a color from the national flag—to express the maritime history and bold spirit of Portugal as a seafaring nation. The design captures both the team’s energy as they make waves on the big stage and the power of the ocean, embodying the spirit of “por amor à camisola” (for the love of the jersey). Many people at the live viewing venue—including the Portuguese ambassador and embassy staff—were seen wearing this uniform.

The match was a clash between two evenly matched sides: Portugal (ranked 8th by FIFA) and Colombia (ranked 11th). A fierce battle for a goal unfolded in the second half, turning the live viewing venue into a cauldron of excitement. The game ended in a 0–0 draw, with Colombia advancing from the group stage in first place and Portugal in second.

As the tournament proper begins, both teams are expected to compete as global powerhouses. It was a moment that left everyone wishing to see the Portuguese national team in the final—and hoping for another live viewing event where they could gather together once more.
