Celebrating 70 Years of Friendship: A Special Reception for Jordan and Japan’s Diplomatic Milestone
Tokyo, Japan – The vibrant ties between Jordan and Japan were celebrated in a grand reception marking the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Hosted at the prestigious Meiji Kinenkan in the heart of Tokyo, this event saw a distinguished gathering of dignitaries, including Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hassan and Princess Takamado, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship and shared history between Jordan and Japan.
In his speech, His Excellency Ali Al-Arabiyat, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Japan, expressed immense pride in the lasting cooperation between the two countries. “Over the past seven decades, our nations have built a strong foundation of friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect,” he said, adding that the event was a tribute to this enduring partnership.
His Royal Highness Prince Hassan bin Talal, who has long been a staunch advocate for global peace and an integral figure in Jordan-Japan relations, spoke of the strategic partnership between the two nations. He highlighted the significant strides in areas such as defense, economic collaboration, and political consultations, which have contributed to the prosperity of both countries. “This anniversary is not just a celebration of the past, but a commitment to continuing our work together toward peace and sustainable development,” said Prince Hassan.
In a heartfelt message, Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado emphasized the strong and warm relationship shared between the Imperial family of Japan and the Royal family of Jordan. Reflecting on her previous visits to Jordan and the ties forged through mutual respect and shared values, she expressed her hope for further strengthening the bond between the two nations. “Our deep-rooted friendship is a testament to the power of cultural exchange and the shared commitment to peace,” Princess Takamado remarked.
The evening also featured performances by the Jordan Armed Forces Music Band, whose rendition of national anthems from both countries set the tone for the celebration. In addition to marking the 70th anniversary, the event also spotlighted the upcoming Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, with both Jordan and Japan looking forward to further collaboration in cultural, technological, and sustainable development spheres.
