Tetsuya Nagata – Breathing Memory
His Excellency Mr. Constantin Cakioussis and Mrs. Ioanna Charikleia Giannakarou, His Excellency Mr. Rui Orlando F.C. Silva Xavier and Mrs. Fatima Ferreira Lima Xavier visited Tetsuya Nagata’s exhibition “Breathing Memory” currently being held at the MAYU gallery in Hotel Okura.
“Wagashi” is a series of contemporary artwork by Tetsuya Nagata that uses traditional Japanese confectionery molds to mold washi paper. The memories of time and place (space), as well as the memories of our Japanese celebrations (feeling), are captured in this work. The artist connects and accumulates these elements into a new worldview. With the pure white material of washi paper, the figures that breathe vividly and are sublimely transformed into works of art unfold before our eyes with a white, innocent glow.
